Our office was thrilled to welcome Dr. Andrew Poulson as a new associate at the beginning of this July. Dr. Poulson earned a B.S. in Molecular and Microbiology from University of Central Florida before earning his D.M.D. from Temple University School of Dentistry. He completed his Sacred Heart General Dentistry Residency in 2014.
Dr. Poulson grew up enjoying Florida’s sun and surf. As a teenager, he hoped to become a windsurfing instructor or a professional skimboarder after high school. Eventually, his interests changed, and he decided to pursue the medical field in hopes of becoming a doctor. One day in college, he broke two of his teeth skateboarding. Dr. Poulson was extremely impressed with the dental office where he received care, and how quickly they bonded his teeth back together. That’s when he knew he wanted to be a dentist.
Dr. Poulson is very happy with his career path. He said the most rewarding part of his job is when a patient comes into the office in pain and leaves with a smile on their face.
Outside of work, Dr. Poulson enjoys exploring Pittsburgh. He just moved here from Philadelphia with his wife, Tina, and loves with how nice everyone is. So far he has enjoyed the beautiful view from Mount Washington, walking around Pittsburgh neighborhoods, and eating local food. Dr. Poulson also likes playing the acoustic guitar and working out. He runs Tough Mudder races and is planning on running Pittsburgh’s Great Race this September alongside Dr. Suher. Dr. Poulson is indeed a man of many talents; another skill on his resume is using a pogo stick with no hands!
Dr. Poulson is a great addition to our office, and everyone is very happy to have him here. If you haven’t met Dr. Poulson already, you can look forward to seeing him at the patient appreciation Pirate game on August 8. Or make an appointment to come by the office!
